Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) is committed to the privacy and security of our members. We want to remind members to be cautious of unexpected communications claiming to be from the credit union. NEFCU will never call, email, or text members asking for account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, PIN, usernames, or passwords. Do not respond to or click on links contained in suspicious text or emails. Instead, we ask that you contact the credit union at 800-453-3913.

Steps members can take to safeguard personal information.

Monitor Your Accounts:  Regularly review statements (account and credit card) for questionable activity. If you notice anything that appears unusual, report it to the credit union immediately.

Update Your Passwords: Use strong and unique passwords for each online account. Change your passwords for accounts that might have been exposed.
Strong passwords should contain a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Account Alerts: Set up alerts to notify you of activity on your account. NEFCU Platinum Credit Card alerts can be setup within eZCard Account Access. Members can also set up account alerts within Online Banking by clicking the Manage Alerts link.

Place a Fraud Alert: A fraud alert is a warning placed on your credit report. This alerts creditors to verify your identity before opening accounts or extending credit in your name. You can request a fraud alert by contacting any one of the three credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion). Once you place an alert with one bureau, the other two bureaus will be notified and your alert will appear on all three of your credit reports. Fraud alerts remain in place for one year and can be renewed if necessary.   Equifax Fraud Alert ,  Experian Fraud Alert ,  TransUnion Fraud Alert

Place a Credit Freeze: A credit freeze locks your credit report and prevents creditor access. Freezing your credit helps prevent unauthorized access to your credit report and makes it difficult for new accounts to be opened in your name. A credit freeze does not expire - it remains in place until you remove it. To place a credit freeze you are required to contact the bureaus individually:   Equifax Credit Freeze ,  Experian Credit Freeze , TransUnion Credit Freeze
