Virtual Branch Online Banking & Mobile Banking NEFCU 2GO

Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting your personal information. Our Virtual Branch Online Banking and Mobile Account Access uses software that incorporates data encryption to ensure security and privacy of your personal data.

Keep in mind that many security issues can be prevented by using common sense. We encourage members to be responsible and to take the appropriate precautions to protect your account information. In addition to the security features Nebraska Energy Federal Credit union has put in place, here are some tips to keep your information secure:

  • Passwords are critical to the security of your account. Never share your User Logon or Security Code.
  • Passwords should contain a random combination of letter, numbers and symbols.
  • DO NOT share
  • Maintain active and up-to-date antivirus and firewall protection.
  • Never bank or shop online using computers at kiosks, cafes unsecured computers or unsecured wireless networks.
  • When exiting the Virtual Branch Online Banking session, always use the Log Out function.

For added security Virtual Branch Online Banking limits the number of times your password can be entered incorrectly. After three times we will automatically lock your account. Should your account become locked out, you will be required to correctly answer security questions which you selected when you signed up for Virtual Branch or contact the credit union at 800-453-3913 for assistance to reset your account access.

Timeout Feature

For additional security Virtual Branch Online Banking has a Timeout Feature. This setting will automatically log you out of your online banking session after a pre-set time period of inactivity.

Stay Protected

We recommend that you take these precautions to help guard against threats to your computer and mobile devices:

  • Never disclose your USER ID or PASSWORD in e-mail.
  • Don’t use your e-mail address as a login ID or Password
  • Don’t respond to e-mails that request you to enter personal information.
  • Don’t respond to e-mails threatening to close your account if you do not take immediate action of providing personal information.
  • Make sure your operating systems, software and browsers are up to date and that anti-virus software and firewalls are in place when possible on all computers and devices.
  • Set passwords and enable screen locks to prevent other from using your computer or devices. Use a mix of characters and cases that are unique to each account or site you use.
  • Clear your device’s cache and history so that passwords, payments details and other saved personal information is deleted.  Only store that you truly need!!!
  • When submitting payment information or other personal details make sure the site is secure by checking for the padlock symbol – “https” in the browsers address bar.
  • Refrain from using public computers or Wi-Fi when making financial transactions or providing personal information.
  • Download apps and software from authorized vendors only.
  • Be aware of privacy policies, terms and conditions on sites you use and anything that you download.
  • Sign out of your mobile or online banking session when you are finished to ensure that your session is closed.

Credit and Debit card fraud can happen through a variety of channels and costs cardholders and issuers millions of dollars each year. Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union is continually monitoring member accounts for suspicious and fraudulent activity.

To help, we suggest the following Do’ and Don’ts:


  • Sign your cards as soon as they arrive.
  • Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  • Shred documents containing card information such as card number
  • Open bills promptly and review
  • Carry only the card(s) you need.
  • Keep receipts and verify each transaction with your monthly statement.
  • Draw a line through any blank spaces on receipts.
  • Record card numbers, expatriation dates, and phone numbers in a secure place for each company in the event of fraud or damage to your card.
  • Notify companies of change in address.
  • Keep contact information current.
  • Check your statements and report suspicious activity immediately


  • Do not write your Personal Identification Number on your card.
  • Lend your card(s) to anyone.
  • Sign a blank receipt.
  • Never leave receipts lying around.
  • Never disclose your card information over the phone unless you initiated the call to a company you know to be reputable

Safety Tips:

  • Never write your Personal Identification Number on your card.
  • Always use an ATM that is well lit and not obstructed from view.
  • Protect your PIN and privacy by shielding the keypad and standing close to the machine.
  • Be cautious — ensure no one is loitering in the area when you approach the ATM.
  • Do not accept assistance from strangers.
  • Don’t use ATMs with unusual signage or instructions.  Check for Skimming Device.
  • Have your card ready.
  • If you are followed are leaving an ATM, go to a crowded, well-lit area and call the police.
  • Once your transaction is complete, put cash directly into your wallet or purse and leave the area. Verify your cash later when it is safe to do so.
  • Monitor your accounts regularly and check your ATM receipts against your statements. Report any unauthorized transactions.

How to Spot ATM Skimming Devices

ATM’s are vulnerable to “Skimming Devices”. Skimming Devices have a magnetic strip called a “skimmer” that is attached over the slot where you inset your ATM card. This “skimmer” allows someone to collect your account information. Once the information is collected, the scammer can recreate your card and drain your account.  These attacks tend to be in high-traffic areas, such as malls and gas stations but stand-alone machines are also targets.
We encourage members to take a good look at the machine.  If the front of the machine appears to have been altered, damaged, or parts are loose walk away.

Notify us before you leave.

Notify credit union if you planning to travel internationally or domestically. Travel notifications can be added to safeguard your account. Without the notification our fraud monitoring systems will question unusual activity which could result in declined debit and credit transactions.

Take more than one form of payment.

The credit union recommends that members carry an alternate payment method as a backup if you are traveling. Not all cards are universally accepted. In addition, cards can be lost or stolen. It is also recommended that you share your e-mail address with us in the event we need to contact you regarding your account. Due to regulatory requirements and incidents of fraudulent activity, the credit union blocks certain debit card activity based on risk. This list of blocked countries is updated based on fraud trends and/or government sanctions.

Make withdrawals at network ATMs.

Always look for ATMs that are a part of the CO-OP Network or have the CIRRUS Network. Be cautious of your surroundings. Choose well-lit ATMs. Have someone accompany you when using an ATM.
